New Zealand NBL Final Four MVP Award

The National Basketball League Final Four MVP (previously known as the Grand Final MVP and Finals MVP) is an annual National Basketball League (NBL) award given since the 2004 New Zealand NBL season to the best performing player of the playoffs/finals. In 2004, Auckland's Aaron Olson was named the league's first Grand Final MVP. Prior to 2004, a Player of the Week award for the Grand Final week was handed out, with Wellington's Ben Knight earning Grand Final Player of the Week honours for his 18 points and 12 rebounds in the Saints' 2003 championship win over the Waikato Titans.〔(【引用サイトリンク】work=Basketball.org.nz )〕 In 2007, the playoff format was changed, with a one-game Grand Final now a three-game Finals series. However, in 2007, no Finals MVP was awarded, with 2008 marking the first year a Finals MVP was named. A Finals MVP was named every year between 2008 and 2012, when in 2013, the award was scrapped for a Final Four MVP award. This award is given to the best performing player over the NBL's annual Final Four weekend, a weekend that consists of three games: two semi-finals and one grand final.
